About the Election
The WSU SRC elections are regulated by the Walter Sisulu SRC Constitution which was last revised in 2025. In terms of the SRC Constitution, the WSU student governance structure is a two-tiered model consisting of the Institutional Student Representative Council (ISRC) and four Campus Student Representative Councils (CSRCs).
KDBS has been appointed to assume the responsibilities of the Electoral Agent (EA) which are set out in detail under the SRC constitution.
Objective and Scope
of the Election

The WSU SRC elections are conducted for the Institutional SRC (ISRC) as well as four Campus Representative Councils (CSRCs). KDBS assumes the responsibilities of the Electoral Agent (EA) as per the SRC constitution.

Electoral System and Voting Method
The WSU SRC elections are conducted based on a hybrid model. The ISRC election is conducted based on the First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) electoral system while the CSRC elections are based on a combination of the FPTP for the Mandatory Seats and rest of the portfolios being elected based on the List Proportional Representation System (List-PR).
List-PR means a ‘Closed List System’ where the order of candidates is fixed by the party itself, and voters are not able to express a preference for a candidate. Accordingly, once submitted, the candidate order may not be changed. For operational purposes, the independent candidates will be treated as though they are one-person parties.
The allocation of PR seats will be carried out based on the Droop Quota method where a party seat is calculated using the formula below.
